Hi Bloggers!
I know I just emailed you all late last week – let me say right off the bat, don’t worry, everything’s fine! We just had some timely changes that we figured would interest you.
First up, we’re now giving our readers the opportunity to dive deeper into a company than the typical 600-word blog post might allow. As a result, you’ll soon be seeing a (hopefully) seamless and relevant final paragraph tacked onto your posts that offers readers a thorough, broad, deep and valuable analysis of one of the companies that you discuss in your post. And yes, it’s also helping our blog content become a more integrated part of the Fool’s business model. Win-win! Just didn’t want you to be surprised.
So, yes, our backlog is (temporarily!) causing a lag from publishing to syndication that can run well longer than our preferred one-to-two-day delay, and we understand you're itching to get your posts to the public. But helpful emails reminding us that you’re waiting aren’t, well, helpful. And just because you're anxious doesn't mean your post necessarily classifies as time-sensitive. From now on, if you have a request for an expedited review, please send a note to blog@fool.com with a link to the post, the date by which you feel it needs to be syndicated, and one or two sentences about why it's such an emergency. If we agree, we'll review it within a couple hours. If not, we'll either publicly shame you, send you to the bottom of the queue, or (far more likely) tell you that it's not a rapid review candidate but we'll get to it just as soon as we can, as we will with every item you’ve submitted.
To help get us back to the timing that you expect, you’ll be excited to know that we are currently interviewing candidates to join Mike and Jamal as full-time reviewers, we’ll hopefully be bringing on another member of the talent development team within the month, and we’re fiddling around with an idea of having high-performing bloggers, our Blog Leaders (Bleaders), work with other bloggers. It’s all designed to help you improve as a writer and analyst, and to get to your posts quicker.
And finally, blogger Eric Novinson sent me an email last month telling me that we should host Fool Blogger Meetups. The Fool now is brewing something that lets you meet up with even more Fools in pursuit of a common goal! On Sept. 25, we are encouraging all Fools to meet in their local community and continue the conversation about how to Invest Better offline. If you would be interested in participating in or helping organize a Fool meetup event in your area, go to http://www.meetup.com/motleyfool/ and join up today. If you have any questions or would like to know more about starting a Fool meetup in your area, please reach out to meetup@fool.com.
That’s it for now. Back to reviewing your posts!
Fool on!
Roger
