  • Housing Stocks - Buy the Dip

By Justin Carley - July 29, 2013 | Tickers: DHI, NVR, PHM

PulteGroup (NYSE: PHM) is putting its money where its mouth is. The company made it clear in recent months that it is going to focus on profitable growth and bury forever the devastation that unprofitable sales caused during the housing collapse. Investors and analysts should have applauded the company’s recent quarterly results. Instead, the shares were discarded and fell more than 14% over a two day stretch just prior more »

  • QE Or Not, These Housing Stocks Are Winners

By Jacob Wolinsky - July 16, 2013 | Tickers: DHI, NVR, TOL

Federal Reserve chief Ben Bernanke lifted the mood of the markets as he announced that the end of the quantitative easing is still some time off in the future. This acted as a sentiment booster for interest rate-sensitive sectors such as housing, which fell some time ago when markets assumed that the central bank was about to wind up the stimulus program. Included among the prominent gainers are NVR (NYSE: NVRmore »)

  • 4 Oversold Homebuilders in Consider for Housing Recovery

By Nur Tarkak - June 24, 2013 | Tickers: DHI, LEN, NVR, PHM

The recovery of the U.S. home market gained traction in June, triggering the surge of confidence on the homebuilders. Since April 2006, the housing market index broke the 50-point mark, reaching 52-points. With the index at 52, there is a bit of optimism in the air. This is brought about by increasing demand for new homes amidst low inventory of existing homes. Many buyers are favoring new homes, thereby more »

  • Housing Market Moving Upscale

By Reuben Brewer - June 5, 2013 | Tickers: DHI, LEN, NVR, TOL

New home sales were strong in April, according to Bloomberg. What was more interesting, however, was that the median home price went up. That's good news for builders of more expensive homes like Toll Brothers (NYSE: TOL) and NVR (NYSE: NVR). Lennar (NYSE: LEN) and D.R. Horton (NYSE: DHI), however, aren't exactly going to suffer.

  • Betting on the Home Builders: Is It too Late?

By Marshall Hargrave - May 16, 2013 | Tickers: DHI, MTH, NVR, PHM, RYL

The home builders have been on a tear since last month, and for good reason. Employment is rising and credit is loosening, which means more people are buying and building homes. Housing starts were up 27.5% year-over-year for 2012, and S&P Economics is expecting housing starts to rise another 34.6% in 2013.  As a result of these solid housing numbers, all the major home builders have been more »

  • Top Homebuilder Stocks That Could Surge With the Recovery

By Alex Bastardas - March 7, 2013 | Tickers: DHI, MDC, NVR

Since late 2006, home prices in the United States have dropped, on average, a little over 30%, although drops have been much higher in some areas. Huge numbers of homes for sale, ample inventories of foreclosed homes, rough macroeconomic conditions, high unemployment, and harder-to-get mortgages have all put futher pressure on the housing market, halting a rapid recovery. It now seems, however, that demand is picking up again, supply is more »

  • 5 High P/E Stocks to Watch for Correction

By William Bias - March 2, 2013 | Tickers: CMG, LL, NVR, SODA, TSCO

Sometimes it pays to watch stocks with high P/E ratios. Influenced by some negative macroeconomic statistic or a company’s miss on consensus estimates, investors in these expensive stocks (trading at a high price to earnings multiple) tend to scare more easily. However, the upside could be a better entry point for opportunistic investors. The five companies below fit those criteria.

  • 3 Companies Benefitting From the Housing Recovery

By William Bias - February 1, 2013 | Tickers: HD, LL, NVR

In April 2006 home prices hit a high. Afterwards, prices began a long decline hitting a seasonally adjusted bottom in May 2009. With the help of government stimulus programs, home prices started on a temporary upward trajectory hitting a new seasonally adjusted top in May 2010. Then, starting in Jan. 2012 prices started back up in what pundits call a housing “recovery” (see graph below).  Shareholders in companies associated with homebuilding experienced a windfall and valuations expanded. However, certain macro-economic conditions such as lower unemployment and better consumer confidence will sustain the housing expansion further and three companies will continue to benefit.

By William Bias - November 20, 2012 | Tickers: AAPL, LNN, NVR, BKE

Cash is king. A company that possesses a huge amount of it provides a fundamental margin of safety for its shareholders and has the potential for an ever increasing dividend stream. Of course, a huge cash stash along isn’t enough without the ability to sustain growth in free cash flow. Companies possessing the ability to grow and retain cash can lead to market beating stock market returns. Here are 4 companies to consider:
