From Note to Pad..!!

It may seem odd, but the Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) iPad and the Samsung Galaxy Note running on Google (NASDAQ: GOOG) Android have one weird thing in common- they were received with diverse responses globally, with most people balking at the difficult-to-slot category-creating hardware. Surprisingly both ended up doing outstandingly well, as we possibly know. Does the Note’s divine descendant, the Android 4.0 based Note 800 10.1- in tablet, make a remarkable impression? Read on...
Visually, there has been a lot of familiarity of the Note 800 with a previous 10.1- in tablet from Samsung, the Tab 750, and the unbothered plastic-look exterior makes a classy tablet feel inexpensive and flimsy. But that’s about where the comparisons end.
Significantly, the internals get a key enhancement by way of a 1.4 GHz quad core processor, an HD-capable 1280 x 800 pixels display & 2GB of RAM. In addition, by virtue of this being a Note, the S Pen stylus takes the center stage and continues to impress the users which unfortunately the iPad still doesn’t have.
This support feature is doing extremely well by leaps and bounds- the stylus is pressure-sensitive, and the screen can truly tell the difference between the S Pen and the user’s palm, therefore the user can relax their hand on the screen whilst writing, just like normal. They can also flip the pen around to erase if needed.
The brilliant internals also allow one more of the 800’s features-Multiscreen. With a limited set of apps-S Note, Internet, Polaris Office, Video Player, Email and Gallery-a user can actually have two of them running side by side, simultaneously on the screen.
The Catch..?
Though, this Stylus support is extremely blissful it however works with only certain applications.
But Samsung has done it really well to at least make it attuned with the big apps like Photoshop Touch, Polaris Office & their own real time handwriting recognition enabled S Note note –taking app.
Conclusion
Would you like to take notes while you surf the internet? Or look at a video while drafting an email. Yes, you can! No intermediary app support required.
In the end, the Note 800 does a few things that the iPad cannot and it does them pretty well, but winning the skirmishes doesn’t necessarily win the war.
